The Situation
The Hilton Rotterdam is a luxury hotel in the heart of the main business, entertainment and shopping area of the city of Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
Among its many facilities, the hotel has a café and a restaurant called The Lounge, where guests can enjoy cocktails, snacks, business lunches and relaxed dinners.
The Hilton Rotterdam is very aware of the importance of creating a comfortable ambience for guests eating in the hotel’s restaurant. Heating is therefore of prime importance. However, the hotel is also concerned about cost-effectiveness, so heating equipment that provides the right balance between comfort for the guests and low running costs is a crucial parameter.
The Grundfos Solution
Heating in The Lounge at the Hilton Rotterdam is provided by a combination of convector heaters, central heating radiators and a hot-air system. To provide the most cost-effective supply of water for this heating system, the Hilton Rotterdam chose a Grundfos MAGNA 65-60 pump.
This decision was based on the Grundfos reputation for top-quality equipment and compliance with agreed delivery schedules. In addition, the hotel was impressed by the fact that installing a 0.4 kW MAGNA pump could generate such savings due to its low energy consumption.
The Outcome
“Since we installed a Grundfos MAGNA pump to provide heating in the hotel’s restaurant, we’ve been more than satisfied. Grundfos delivered top-quality equipment right on schedule, and we expect to achieve considerable savings due to the low energy consumption,” says Mr Willem den Hartog, engineering manager at the Hilton International Rotterdam.
“Until we installed Grundfos equipment in our hotel,” he adds, “we used to say that the best isn’t good enough. However, our experience with Grundfos has convinced us that the very best is actually good enough to meet our requirements.”
